2007
Long Course Duathlon World Championship 2007-Richmond,
VA
It is 1 hour and 2 minutes into the race. First 9.3miles
of the run course are done. I fly into transition and onto
my AEGIS Victory, knowing the technical 4 loop 50 mile
course ahead of me. Jeff (my husband) and I had talked
about the plan for the bike quite a bit the day before
while driving and riding the course. It was a technical
course with very rough roads in some areas. Throw into
that some pretty nasty turns along the way and it made
for an interesting ride. On lap 1, I was pretty conservative.
Lap 2, I passed the 2nd place girl in my age group. One
down and one to go. Lap 3, I was getting the hang of the
lines I needed to ride on the hills and corners, and I
passed the girl in 1st place. Riding my AEGIS road bike
in the race made a HUGE difference. After emailing Greg
(from AEGIS) and showing him the course with all its turns
and technical sections, I knew I made the right choice.
I was on the right machine for this course. I was in my
drops often on the corners and really kept up my speed
rather then riding in bars and loosing my lines/speed.
The race was now mine to win or lose. I just needed to
have a strong last lap, but not loose site of the turns,
corners and get careless.
50 miles later I jump off my
bike for the last 4.6 miles of the race. I head off,
picking off about 4-5 women along
the way. They all yell words of encouragement as I continue
toward the finish line. 4 hours and 2 minutes later I
cross the finish line-7th overall and the 2007 25-29 Age
Group World Champion.
Thank you Greg and everyone at AEGIS
for your support and encouragement. On to 2008!

I just wanted to thank everyone there for my new, metallic
lupine Trident I purchased at Midcoast Multisport. I took
her for a little test drive at the
Kennebunk Fire Co. Triathlon this weekend and she blew away the competition.
I was seriously riding on air, passing people all the way. I thought your company
would be happy to hear that after the race, an unknown male came up to me and
asked, "Was that you on the Aegis bicycle (pause),
the PURPLE Aegis bicycle?" I could only smile and say yes. I love my new
bike! Thanks so much!

More "Major" (Kate) race news
Major took control of the women's race with a superb bike
(T2), building a huge lead to coast to the women's title
with an overall time of nine hours,
24 minutes and 42 seconds. The win was the first of Major's career, and came
over a women's field that featured three athletes who had claimed Ironman titles
in their careers. Major's time of 9:24:42 set a new course record at the Lake
Placid event and her bike split of 5:06:49 broke the women's bike course record
at Lake Placid
by almost 15 minutes!

Here are some initial comments on my new Victory...
As a frame of reference, I'm 60 and a B recreational rider.
I have a course
I ride regularly through my neighborhood. It's two miles
a lap, and I usually do five laps, several times a week.
I keep track of my times. I spent a few days just getting
accustomed to the Victory. Yesterday, I decided to push
it a little - not to the max - and see how my time compared
to prior times. I shaved a minute and forty seconds off
my prior best time, and my average speed was up eight tenths
MPH. Since I transferred my wheels and drivetrain from
my prior bike, there was only one variable and only one
explanation for the improvement - - the Victory. In addition
to the performance increase, the Victory is extremely comfortable
to ride, and it delivers a really satisfying "feel" of
the road that is hard to describe. And of course, it's
a gorgeous hunk of eye candy.
This is a damn outstanding bike. Nice work, guys. The
bad news for you is that I'll probably keep it for a long,
long time, so don't look for me to be a repeat customer
any time soon.

T2 debut at Ralph's 1/2 FeHomme Tri
The bike was a dream machine!!!!!!!! I had my best tri-bike
leg EVER!!!! I averaged 18.9 mph (2:58) My bike leg was
better than run and swim. Everything worked perfectly.
Very hilly and windy bike course--two 10% grade hills.
My overall time was 5:27/19th place in age group. Run
time was 1:43/swim was slow 39:00--and transitions were
very
slow--had to get my make up.. I nearly froze during the
swim. I only saw two other T2's--one was light orange,
the other was black but not RS. Definately the best looking
bike at the race!
WOW! AWESOME bike!
Jen Johnso
WOW--that bike is fast.

Aegis for life
My bike shop pro (Bryan @ Scats Bikes) is now setting
up the Victory I bought from you. When I brought it in
to
him, I told him I thought I had bought one of the two
or three best production frames being made anywhere in
the
world. He said I was wrong. He said I had bought THE
best. He then expressed his condolences to me, saying
he was
sorry I bought it, because after I ride it I'll never
want to ride anything else.
Looking forward to many happy miles on this great bike.
Thanks!
